First Meeting of 2026
September 22, 2026
Welcome to Model UN! We had our first meeting this week, with a little over 30 students. It looks like a great group.
We started with icebreakers, and everyone introduced themselves with their name and grade.
Then we went over the basics: what Model UN is, why it's worth doing, and which conferences we go to. If you missed it, the home page has the same information.
The question chain
To finish, everyone wrote down one question about something they're interested in. It didn't have to be about MUN, and we actually encouraged everyone to pick something else.
Then everyone passed their paper to someone else. That person read the question and wrote a new one related to it that interested them. We kept passing the papers, so by the end, every question had a chain of related questions coming off it.
We collected all the papers. The goal this year isn't to answer every question, but to explore them. We might do this activity again later in the year, after we've covered more topics, to make sure our deep dives are on things you actually find interesting.
