Firebird Spots and Student Mini Lessons
January 22, 2026
We started by going over Firebird MUN, figuring out who's going, and giving out spots.
Teach the class
We spent the rest of the time on an activity I thought was really cool. In groups of about four, everyone picked any geopolitical, economic, or historical topic. Then they had about 30 minutes to make a slideshow that would teach it to the whole class, like a 5-minute lesson.
The slideshow had to cover:
- Background on the topic
- The core ideas, explained as if teaching the class
The rules:
- Keep the text on each slide short.
- Cite all your information.
- Every member has to speak at least once.
The point was to practice a few skills that matter a lot in MUN: doing research, citing your sources, turning that research into clear ideas, and speaking in front of a group. The goal isn't to persuade, but to get the information across clearly.
